Welcome back to That’s What Pea Said… Have you checked out the first entry to my Power Hour Readalong? Today I took part in Day Two of the Power Hour Readalong. I was struggling to sleep and so I decided to make the most of the opportunity and brought my Power Hour forward to 7am. Admittedly, I am not a morning person but I think the whole point of this experience is to push myself to try new things and to recognise and monetise on all the opportunities which come my way.
The second chapter of Power Hour focuses on the importance of creating powerful habits… I am really enjoying that each chapter begins with a powerful quote as I feel this helps shift my mindset into thinking positively and powerfully…
It can be far too easy to talk to ourselves in a negative manner, for many of us self-doubt is one of our greatest hinderences when trying to progress and move forwards with out life… Negative self talk is not the easiest of habits to break, but it is equally far from impossible and I think it is something which we can all work towards achieving.
A prime example of this is: if you asked me if I could complete a power hour at 7am I would have responded with a flat-out no… BUT hey – here I am – starting my Power Hour at 7am! I even added a time stamp to my story to remind me of this achieve and to remind myself that I am more capable than I give myself credit for.
The words we say to ourselves are important,; the words we say about ourselves even more so…
Today’s encouragement requires us to focus on self-awareness. In order to move forwards it is important that we evaluation our current situation with open eyes and transparency. Once we address our habits, both positive and negative we can understand them and create a plan to move forwards productively…
Adrienne suggests that we take the following three steps:
01: Adress your current daily habits. Assign them as either useful or non-useful.
02: Adopt, replace or re-create: new, better, more powerful habits
03: Add friction – make the bad habits harder to choose
Self awareness and accountability are areas which I studied in great depths whilst doing my counselling studies and so has become an uncomfortability that I am okay with. Acceptance is really important when taking accountability, although it can take some time to feel comfortable with. I really enjoyed completing this task and I look forward to sharing my thoughts in more detail once the readalong is complete.
As I said, I’m really looking forward to completing this read-along and I hope that you’ll follow me on my journey. Do you have a power-hour or perhaps something which helps you create a positive mindset for the day ahead? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments… Don’t forget to follow my journey on my instagram stories and feel free to ask any questions, I’m always open to chat motivation & wellbeing!
