Monday Moan: Hope In Hell

Welcome back to That’s What Pea Said… Have you checked out my most recent post: My Week In Pictures 003? After giving it some thought, I have decided to bring back a weekly feature from way back when*

drum roll please The Monday Moan!

*way back when is quite possibly from circa 2010, when I initially began blogging as an requirement of my journalism degree… It always felt cathartic to write these updates, everyone loves a good moan and I hope you will enjoy following this feature…

This week’s moan is triggered by Instagram…

Admittedly, I have a love-hate relationship with Instagram… It has many fabulous features and the image sharing app plays an integral role in running my business… Despite this, when Instagram decides it no longer wishes to cooperate and play ball it can be a nightmare to overcome the hurdles presented.

Whilst todays moan may appear trivial, it is certainly something which has tested my patience this afternoon and as a result, I have given up attempting to share the content which is visible here, to the left of your screen.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you will know that I frequently take part in Tandem Collective Readalongs, which are fab’ and worth checking out…

Today, I received the book ‘Hope In Hell’ which I’ll talk about on another day… I thought it would be fun to introduce it on my Instagram story using this rather fun boomerang edit… As you can see, I’ve kept it super simple as I do with every readalong which I introduce on my IG story…

I uploaded my story and went out for the rest of the morning… When I came home and checked-in with my story I was suprised to see that Instagram had taken it upon themselves to add a Covid-19 Information Link… As you can see, there is absolutely no reference to that blasted virus on my video…

I assumed it was a glitch, so I uploaded the video again, this time as a print screen of my original video, and low and behold the same notification was added to my story…

I thought I’d attempt a third edit and I uploaded the video with no additional text, not even the advertising disclaimer (naughty, I know)… I was once again greeted with a notification informing me that my post contains Covid content and an information link had been added.

I am aware Instagram has a feature which can recognise the word covid even when it’s embedded in an image (look left) – I felt that was pretty creepy.

I can only think this is a temporary glitch as I haven’t used any covid-related language and the filter and effect I used I was able to share yesterday with no issues… Regardless, it is a total nuisance and I really hope it is only temporary. I have really enjoyed getting creative with my content recently and I’m currently trying to focus on building the engagement from my stories…
