Power Hour Readalong – Day 05

Welcome back to That’s What Pea Said… Have you checked out my previous posts from my Power Hour readalong? I hope you are still enjoying following my journey! Although I am still not the biggest fan of early morning’s, I am trying to get into the habit of waking up earlier, even if I don’t use the hour for physical activity, I like to take the time to catch up with my reading, meditate and manifest my desires. I have also found that adding the clock feature to my stories is assisting with my early-rise accountability and I hope this is a habit I will continue once the readalong is complete.

Today’s chapter encourages us to focus on the Power of People. I found the opening quote to this chapter to be quite thought provoking, it certainly supports the theory that actions speak louder than words… I think we can learn a lot from watching the behaviour of others, however it is important to draw our inspiration from many sources, otherwise this can become unhealthy.

In addition to learning skills, I believe it is important to pay attention to the energies which other people emit. If you are unsure of how to distinguish someones energies, take a moment when they next reach out to you and ask yourself how this makes you feel? Do you find yourself taking a deep breath, or do you feel yourself filling with joy and smiling?

This chapter focuses on the importance of self relfection and the importance of having a good understanding of our strengths, what we are good at and the things which we are not so good at… I’ve said it before and I still believe that self awareness is at the root of all self development and progress.

If I want to learn from someone, I will watch what they do before I listen to what they say.

Before I began my counselling studies, I was cautious of self-reflection however throughout my studies I familiarised myself with the benefits and found myself becoming okay with the uncomfortableness which I may experience. I really enjoyed this chapters prompt which encouraged us to question whether or not we believe that we have a good understanding of what we are good at, and equally what we are not so good at and whether or not these are roles which we typically take within our work and social lives in order to play to our strengths… We were also encouraged to reflect on anything which we would like to improve in and how we could start making steps towards them. I really enjoyed taking the time to reflect on my strengths and the areas which I’d like to work on, I find it beneficial to have a tangible list which I can work with…

As I said, I’m really looking forward to completing this read-along and I hope that you’ll follow me on my journey. Do you have a power-hour or perhaps something which helps you create a positive mindset for the day ahead? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments… Don’t forget to follow my journey on my instagram stories and feel free to ask any questions, I’m always open to chat motivation & wellbeing.
